No so Swordheart was an absolute goddamn delight of a book and I cannot wait to pick up Daggerbound. Like, how dare this just be so fun and whimsical and clever and laugh out loud funny and heartfelt?
I just finished book 1, book 2 is coming out in August 2026, and not sure on timing for book 3 but it looks to be a trilogy and my ears/eyeballs are READY because WOW.
Why Swordheart, book 1 in the Swordheart trilogy?
Because you like:
- Stellar writing and worldbuilding
- Exceptionally clever banter
- Top notch side characters
- Laughing out loud
- You read the author’s Paladin series and want more in that world
- MCs in their 30s and older
What is the the Swordheart trilogy about?
When her uncle dies leaving his entire estate to Halla, she becomes the target of the family’s ire. So much so that even before the funeral they lock her up until she agrees to marry her cousin. & when she’s finally decided her only exit was to end herself, a mystery warrior pops out of the sword she was planning on using.
This trilogy has: very funny writing, a solo-narrated and well done audiobook, amazing found family, bodyguard trope, grumpy x sunshine, the tiniest bit of spice
