I ATE THIS UP. If you know me you know my favorite type of male love interest is what I lovingly refer to as the “flirty little bitch” and boy oh BOY does this book deliver. That + a tough FMC, interesting politics developing, and twists I didn’t predict? I LOVED THIS.
What is the Merciless Realms series about?
Nizzara is the heir to the throne and has entered into a tournament so that she may gain a wish, though her father doesn’t know her wish would be to end the political betrothal he’s arranged.
Then you have Dagen, who is the former king and current half-ghost essentially acting as a soul hunter for the god of death. He is sent on a mission to get Nizzara’s soul, but gets there and decides maybe that’s not what he wants to do.
Why Read the Merciless Realms series?
This has a unique magic system that really drew me in were magic users are linked to spirits, but using too much of this magic can drive you mad. So not only do you have this really interesting limit to the magic, but you also have this political gameplay going on as well.
And NOT TO MENTION the romance. I LOVE a flirty little bitch MMC and Dagen is that to a T and that makes for the most fun banter around.
