This trilogy is dark as FUCK but oh my GOD IT IS SO GOOD. I’m in the middle of book 2 right now and wow. The writing is immaculate, the world is brutal and heavy, the story is cool, the characters are rich, and I’m genuinely loving every second.
But I will 100% tell you to check your triggers because this is in fact, really dark. But I am loving itttt.
Why the Empire of the Vampire Trilogy?
Here are a few reasons I think you should read this dark vampire fantasy series, starting with Empire of the Vampire:
- Really good, interesting, writing
- Complex characters who you can’t help but root for
- A brutal world with consistently high stakes
- You like being stressed because you will be
- You like fantasy where a romance influences the plot or a character’s depth, but isn’t the plot (and this absolutely is not a romance or romantic trilogy, but there is spice)
- My sell for this is Blade x The Witcher as told in Interview With a Vampire, so if that intrigues you you’ll probably love
- You enjoy Ark of the Covenant quest-like stories
- You enjoy the discussion and dismantling of strict religious teachings and organizations
What is the Empire of the Vampire Trilogy About?
Gabriel, one of the most successful/dangerous/(in)famous Silversaints to have ever lived, tells his story to the vampire historian who has been assigned to him by the vampire Empress. The story of how he became the famed vampire hunter; his battles, triumphs, & losses. & how he became just one man that changed the Empire forever. This trilogy has:
- Found family
- Vampires out the wazoo
- Prophecies and religions and deconstruction and war
- Solo-narrated audiobook (super well done in my opinion)
- Medium spice level (so far, into book 2)
